In Summer...

Oh. Summer.

I'm just now getting to enjoy Summer, even though I am at the end of Summer 1. I chose to take 9 hours this first summer session and 9 hours the next summer session. It all ends before we report back for school, and I do get a couple of weeks this summer where I am not working or taking classes. I think.

If anybody looks at the day/time stamp on this ol' blog, you'll notice that I haven't written anything since early May, and now its the end of June. It's not that I haven't had any ideas (quite the contrary actually, I tend to have ideas as I am falling asleep to be honest and that is so not the time to whip out the computer), but I really haven't had the time. Its been a struggle to write papers for 2 classes and take quizzes for another one, and then come sit down with blogger. Something has been due everyday, but now, I've finally gotten into the grove, and I am looking forward to being able to do more with classes and blogging in July.

Vacation Bible School (aka VBS) is over and it was a big hit. My counterparts at church and I did a fabulous job. And I really learned how much is actually involved in planning an event for 100 kids for 5 nights. It was a fun and amazing experience, and I can't wait to do it again next year.

Last week was Michael's birthday, and we celebrated with a whole bunch of lazy, video game playing, movie watching, and a fort. Yes, you read that correctly, a fort. We usually drag the mattress off our guest bed into the living room (infuriating Annie), load it up with pillows, and blankets and camp out. Its our way of a cheap vacation. Although, now its been a week, so it's time to put it up. I'm ready to get back to my king size oasis.

Although I haven't had a lot of time in Summer, I did find time to get caught up on laundry (meaning I need to get more hangers) and dishes. Slowly, we are working more on the house, but everything seems to be down in small spurts, depending on time and money. To be honest, the hallway still isn't finished and we started that a year ago, and there is wall paper still on the living room wall from where I started taking it down... a year go. Eventually, we will get it done. And we have time, since the house is ours, and we have no plans on leaving.

I'm getting ready to embark on a new adventure, which fits my personality more that I would like to admit. I've never held the same job for more than 18 months. Teaching kindergarten for 2 years was the longest time commitment I'd ever given something as far as my career went. So fittingly, I am changing grade levels next year. I was apprehensive at first, but now I am increasingly excited to work with a new team and conquer new standards and curriculum. HELLO THIRD GRADE.

So there's that. I'll get back to this blog--after, all I've had this thing for about 3 years. Its important to me.
